this photo to me has always been 'Oz' because those towers symbolized a magical place that is now just a memory ... so if anyone was wondering about the caption ...
Ow! There's a certain spot on the highway near here where the whole Manhattan skyline opens up, a near-daily reminder of the gap where they used to stand, and the smoke that rose for days... Which is nothing to what you "in town" had to endure.
I am currently reading a novel written in 1995, and the main character lives in Brooklyn. At one point, he mentions the Twin Towers, and it's eerie, knowing neither the character nor the author could ever have forseen what was to come.
